RS TURBO COS R5 HEAD GASKET WILL GO OR TURBO WILL BLOW UP

 

I had a 5 turbo and i think it was over rated and if broke all the fcukin time shed

 

Had a 5 turbo 2 about 15yrs ago mad car would anialate most escort turbo,s would leave black lines on the road 100yds long saw one of these on e-bay this year made £25000 wish still had it as could swap it for escort coz,

 

Good Race off the lights or will the Escort Rs turbo win hands down?

depends on spec - but u'll strugge from a standing start.

 

R5's are great. Like RS's though get a duff one and you'll be put off them for life.

They are gettng rarer though now and good ones rarer still

 

There a few nice ones round my area.

Just wondered next time i am at the lights in my Rs. and he reving at me give him a go or just hold my head in shame lol

Depends what his car is running and what your's is I guess too

 

Depending on the spec of the r5 turbo, my old one was running 32psi and would give the mojority of stuff on the road a run for its money.
Was scarry when it was in 5gear pulling like a train with the back end bouncing off the ground because it was too low the good old days

 

My mate had a tuned Phase1 and it was rapido!

Was a weird car that one,cruising on the by-pass at 60mph and it was boosting at 5psi Never had any issues with the head gasket though,it was everything else Still an RS owner cant really comment on reliability

 

They pretty nippy little things.

When i get my car on the road on 12th i go hunting for them R5 turbo

As said already, I think it comes down to the spec of both the cars. I think on evenly matched spec cars, the R5 is gonna have you from the lights, but I reckon at 100+ you will start to reel him in!

 

between me and my brother we have had ten renault 5s my brother still has two now as well as his series 1 5s just have a bad rep if you pay pennys you will get a shit one and it will break all the time same as anything else

as for the 5 against the rs how many rs turbos are in the 11s-13s quarter mile there are loads of 5s doing these times at pod so it all comes down to spec but they only way you will find out is by having a go , my mates 5 is rapid 270bhp and still a 1.4 beats me every time

 

A chipped 5?? Didn't think they had an ECU to chip??

 

Don't know too much about the 5 but you may find it has an ECU to control the boost and the ignition as per RST

 

they have a module which controls the ignition via a vacume if im not misstaken.

i know of severall r5s running 12second quarters without a diff, running around 20psi and still using a t2 turbo

i like them, want a grey one to sit next to my turbo

 

Depends on whats done to each one but iwould put me money on the Esc turbo

 

R5s a fast but a PIg to work on cos of the small engine bay, and there are to many thrashed ones out there, but still not bad for a turboed mota

 

both standard?. r5 easily in my opinion, but who cares. they both get tuned to silly bhp. always the same with turbo cars, there is so much power increase to be had that i never have a go at any turbo cars lol cause mines standard and the others persons more than likely wont be

 

got a few R5's round my area which are pretty slow never had any probs but once raced one in bedford near a mates house and it went like fookin shit off a shovel....had a chat after he quite clearly beat me and he had a 1.8 block in there....properly humbled that night
