Default mixing antifreeze?

my s2 turo has got blue antifreeze in it at the moment. went to buy some from ford to top it up and they said its been replaced with pink stuff.

is it alright to stick it in or shall i buy some more and replace the whole lot?

also my coolant level is on the 'min' line. could this cause my heater not to work as effectively or is that another problem altogether?

thanks!

Mixing's no sweat but might as well change it all - piss easy, pop the bottom rad hose off over a drain. Fill up with header tank cap off, wait until thermostat opens, top up header tank.

stupid question maybe but your being sarcastic right as you fill it up via the expansion tank so obviously the cap has to be off....

my heater works but not very much. it will blow some hot air but as soon as i turn it on to full power the air goes colder but still noticeably warmer than when i turn it to cold.

when the fan is off and on hot setting i get the usual breeze of hot air through the vents. ( i can't close vents completely cause i have nomad gauge holder there!)

He weren't being sarky mate - what I meant and Ballin agreed was that you fill the rad and header tank up, then run the car up to hot ie. when the thermostat kicks in with the header tank cap off. When the thermostat opens, it will allow any trapped air to escape, which it can't do with the cap on.

mate ive been selling thermostats for 2 weeks by people hoping that there cars stats have stuck hence why there heaters dont work

hell i dented the work van today pulling round a corner tht was tight, i reversed it hoping that going backwards would make the dent not happen and i could try again and not end up with a dent, when that never worked i looked at the dent and turned my head and shouted "no., this cant be happening to me", turned back and it was still there

guess if we hope something isnt what we want and we wish it to be what we want it dont actually turn out to be what we want

i even looked for the restart button on the wheel too but ford havent fitted them to transits unless its a option im not aware of

ACTUALLY

The old green/blue antifreeze is ethylene glycol

and

The NEW TYPE orange antifreeze is monoethylene glycol

and

SHOULD NOT BE MIXED

Well according to my haynes manual

It recomends a full drain and backflush before changing to one of the other types

But could just be a manufacturers con type thing as its them that gave Haynes the recomendation

ok i think im just gonna drain it and renew it anyway and flush it out. will flush out the heater matrix too to see if it is blocked before operating on the dashboard!

its only about Ł3 a litre so not really expensive!

i had same problem last week mate, so i drained it, changed the thermostat and flushed the matrix and thankfully that solved it.

you may be lucky enough to flush it, takes some pressure though both directions
