Default Home networking question again....

What options do i have for the following:

I have 1 really basic computer running win 98 and a USB ADSL modem, this computer has a single network card with RJ45 socket.

2nd computer is new and has onboard network card (Nforce 4).

How do i go about sharing the ADSL modem from the basic computer on the newer one???

Is it as simple as plugging in a Cat cable between the RJ45 sockets?

And if so, what has to be done within the software to make it work???

Cheers

You can network the machines with he cable, and then enable internet connection sharing on the 98 machine

Thanks Dan,

I take it'll make no difference that the newer system uses Win Xp X64???

What also do i need to lknow about the cable?

Just regular Cat5e???

Is there a maximum length so as to avoid any loses or does this not really matter? its about 12 metres roughly....

Son't matter too much, think you need a rj45 patch / crossover cable to go from machine to machine. Data transfer shouldn't be too affected
