Get it powder coated mate, will stand up to the heat better than if you just get it painted

I would think powder coating would adversly effect the cooling properties of the intercooler though Stu

Its ALOT thicker!!

Its a dry powder that has an + electric current going through it and the item thats being coated has a -

The finish tends to be quite thick....

More durable , Hence why underside parts and shocks normally get Powder coated...

And you cant thin the powder down unlike paint....

When PE used to sell Pace coolers back in the mid 90's they bought em in and painted them matt black with some special paint. Very thin coating. Black is a better emitter of heat but some argue that the thickness of the paint is traded off with the better cooling properties of the black colour. You pays your money and takes your chance.

Powdercoating isn't as thick as you might think, it's actually thin, but it's still not a good idea to do a rad with it lol.

Its is Thick...

I've blasted many things with DMS ( Dry Media Stripping ) that have been Powder Coated and even that struggles to get it off!

powder coating is plastic

plastic is a good insulator

now lets think about it again

make sure the ally is spotlesly clean .. or the paint will eventually crack .. might find its worth using a very fine coat of primer first ..

my grs intercooler was black (4 years ago) worked exactly the same with no issues at all..

personally I would give it a good key up, then light 2k etch prime, then light coating of 2k black with a matting agent added
