You'll get better fuel consumption I've been told, by having Autronic fitted.

I was also told that I'd get 18-21mpg on an Evo 8 and Evo 6 if I was very light footed! Still hasn't put me off though.

Nope, I am still looking, I am a wee bit undecided what to get, Evo 6 GSR, EVO 6 TME, Evo 8 FQ300 or even an EVO MR FQ300. There are so many for sale within the budget I have allowed.

I want as near a standard one as possible, max about 305bhp, what the Evo 8 FQ300 has or a lightly modified Evo 6. It's going to cost a fortune having 2 fuel guzzlers, as I can only get a max of 18 or 19mpg out of my cossie driving it carefully.

standard injectors on an evo are bigger than greys, just to give you an idea...

the fact that the fuel gauges on evo are a bit dodgy doesnt help things...

as above, very, 100 miles and it s handshake with the snake, its compounded on the 4/5/6 with its punny lil tank, so u can only get £45 quid in from nothing .

Im seing around 200miles to a tank or £42 worth. (Thats mixed driving)

That can reduce down to less that 100miles to the tank if you drive it like a hooligan.

Hello Chop, yep it will be, keep the miles off the cossie

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Evos have a 50 litre tank? So if it does and you're getting 100 miles to a full tank, that equates to something like 9 mpg? Surely not....

more mates old fq330 managed about 200 - 220 miles if driven carefully on a full tank - about 45 - 50 quid.

to make power, you have to use fuel - simple as that.

having said that, a turbocharged car making 350 bhp probably uses more fuel in doing so than a naturally aspirated one does due to running richer mixtures.

48litres IIRC, and yes, 9mpg was a pretty normal day (it was driven hard yes) but all the time, so my normal mpg was anywhere from 8-12 mpg just coming to/from work.

To sum it all up imo - if your worried about high running & maintenance costs DONT buy an evo.

I've currently got an E8 FQ300 and it drinks a lot of petrol in normal driving, the only chance of getting good mpg is to drive it in 6th gear gently along the motorway.

You bad boy

I got half a tank to just over 65km's but that was on the ragged edge

In all seriousness if you drive like twat all the time it will drink faster then a fish but if you drive it like a normal car around town then the odd boot it's nothing crazy i think anyway,

Mike

I also beleive that if you buy one then you should expect it to be a little thirsty,

Lynne tell me more about the Autronics and better mpg please

Jock, that's all I was really told. I was speaking with the owner of Pace Ward Insurance on the phone, he posts as Insbro on the MLR and it was him that told me, he is very knowledgeable about Evos and answered all my 'daft' questions easily

AJ would be better bet to tell you about Autronic as his TME has it...

Jock, I just found this on Google http://www.autronic.com/

I know Mark Shead is an authorised dealer for doing it... http://www.madevelopments.com/
