Just refitted my gearbox with new clutch and now got no 5th or reverse gear. Can select these gears but have no drive when the clucth is let out. The reverse lights are not coming on when selecting reverse either. Have had the gearbox apart to replace the input shaft seals could it be something i have missed or something not gone back right? The car drives fine in all the other gears no noises or whines just no drive in 5th any ideas?or is it box out time again

you might just need to adjust the gear linkege (spelling :-( )

can you actually hear the car engaging into reverse, do the reverse lights come on?????

have a look, if you cant hear the car engaging reverse or the lights dont come on then try adjusting the linkage

 

The reverse lights dont come on and there is not really any feeling of it going into reverse have'nt had chance to have a look at it yet probarbly going to be weekend now

 

yeh sounds like a gear linkage, sounds like it needs moving over to the left a bit
