WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT TO USE A CUT AND SHUT DIZZY
COSTS TWICE AS MUCH AS A CAM SENSOR SETUP WHICH WILL WORK A WHOLE LOT BETTER.
If cut and shut dizzys were the way to go.. STU, Ahmed, Paul Hills etc.. would all use a cut and shut dizzy! I think you will find that they use a fully adjsutable cam/phase sensor setup

Either cut and shut or hybrid, same sort of thing in my eyes mate.
The phase sensor is a shite component that always causes problems after X amount of time. Becuase it is in the dizzy it suffers from loads of problems related.
Apart from all that it is not needed and is another moving part in the engine bay which does not need to be there.
I could go on but its "pointless"
A cam sensor is just a magnetic trigger. Nothing to fail or wear.. Obviously one day you will need to change the sensor, but i know of 15year old Cosworths with the same CPS from the factory with no problems or change in Ohms. Reliablity is the second most important. First it needs to work...

We are talking about ways to trigger the phase for a Cosworth managed engine.
This is not for a KE system like yours mate

Well if you fit a cam sensor the dizzy is pointless then fitting a coil pack is easy

most dizzys have many moving parts.. We are talking about gears, Spline, Seals x4, Rotor Arm, Dizzy cap, Carbon tips, O rings etc etc etc all these parts can and will fail in the end..! or you replace them all with just one sensor
Its more than just the phase sensor we are talking about as it is joined to so many other components. On some cars it also involves the oil pumps, thats another topic...

Jano: Is the trigger sensor for the coil pack simply a cps ?? if not what is it ?? does there need to degrees of adjust around that sensor for timing or is it all done in the map ??

A Cosworth Crank Sensor (Weber) Roughly £28 can be bought secondhand but for this price its not worth it.
http://www.motorsport-developments.c...products_id=40
A Highly polished Stainless Steel bracket to hold the sensor, it is adjustable via 2 springs and Stainless Areoquip nuts. Measures as low as 1thou
A Laser cut then lathed mild steel disk which acts as the trigger for the magnetic sensor to pickup. £28
When these items are used together it gives an infinitive mechanical adjustment to the setup. This is not to be confused with the adjustments in the map!
It enables the adjustment of the phase timming to the EXACT position for your engine spec and setup. Any Tuner in the world will be able to adjust the settings in a mechanical way. This needs to be perfect before the mapping of the engine in an electronic way. Maybe a tuner (of your choice) will need to move it to get the best out of the engine setup which is simple to do, unlock the disk and turn in any direction 360degree then lock back into place.
EASY
**Prices added for a comparison to a dizzy**
Now to add a little fun....
On a 16v TWIN CAM engine i can control the phase timming from the inlet cam and the Speed sensor from the exhaust cam.
For kit cars or tight engine bays this is a kool feature..
This is how i control the engine bay below, first of its kind running Focus Motorsport CGi Bottom end, P8 with coilpack.
