Other than the reasons posted above by DazC
most dizzys have many moving parts.. We are talking about gears, Spline, Seals x4, Rotor Arm, Dizzy cap, Carbon tips, O rings etc etc etc all these parts can and will fail in the end..!
or you replace them all with just one sensor
Its more than just the phase sensor we are talking about as it is joined to so many other components. On some cars it also involves the oil pumps, thats another topic...
