Did u check? could be the sunroof drain pipes rotten or the sunroof fooked?

I've heard before that water has run from the boot (rear light selas gone) into the front footwell, could be this if not?

hi guys. i am the brother. what my bro hasnt mentioned is that there seems to be an obvious door seal problem. its not the main rubber seal but the one that runs along the top of the door which is coated in kind of a fabric, like u normally get on the bottom of the windows. well, that is hanging off. and after looking under the carpet and not finding any rot then id say that this is the most likely culprate. for the sake of a few quid it could all be sorted. and whats not to say that i could travel miles for a minter, get it home then that leaks wen it rains. as much as i am dying for an RS turbo im already beginning to lose a bit of patience. im wondering if giving up my GTI 6 would be a good move for an escort. maybe i will just wait and see what comes around as there are some near perfect examples out there.

with regards to the battery tray, i would say that it has been done properly. loks like a good job. then engnine ahs been the main concern for the boy and has had over £2000 worth of croming. its running 244bhp with 16psi of boost and he was looking to turn it up to 20 psi with a new uprated fuel pump.

i am finding it frustrating as i am only 20 and insuring an RS turbo and a GTI 6 would just go against every moral i have ever learnt. not to mention the inurance i give for my R6. sorry for blabbering on, but as u all know, buying and selling is a troublsome stressful thing and really gets ur brain ticking.

thanks for any feedback in advance.

Sound slike an alright car if a little over priced (unless it's really good nick apart from the mentioned flaws.

the door seal you mention mate, my S1 hasnt got this seal (needing to be fitted, jus not got round to it) and after a year and a half its not leaked into the passenger footwell. it'll be the battery tray or the sunroof, ask the boy if its ok to take the glove box out (2 screws iirc) just to double check.

the gearbox problems could be sorted with an uprated bernie box, or if it's can be sorted to bring the boost in a little more gradually, or maybe even the boost turned down wouldnt let the box problem put you off though.
