Default norton and now p4 troubles

piece of absolute pants ...

ok any ideas????

used ghost to copy a c drive across .. gets it all fired up and working .. then internet security and antivirus say not registered ???

so goto register them and firewall says bugger off too many installs ...

how .. i have the genuine discs here with sleeves .. only ever been on this machine ..

why would copying c drive create a problem ? surely its supposed to copy everything ?? took me about 5 goes for it to copy the drive as norton system works had hold of the system
system is xp pro service pack 2 ..

what can people recomend to get other than norton then ??

cheers guys

If you've ghoseted the drive across from one to another, then you may have to uninstall and reinstall the norton products you have, only way round it I can think of at the mo m8

Ghost generally is a good program m8, but I think, as Norton releases a new version of their software, there's a newer way for it to fuck your pc up.

Firewall, Norton Internet Security or Personal Firewall, Blackice PC Defender, McAfee are good

I attended a job the other week, guy bought norton internet security 2005 and got go back free, installed it, told him to restart his pc and it's goodnight from microsoft.

Couldn't do nothing with it whatsoever, had to format it and put xp on again

Hence why I'm sticking with Norton Systemworks 2003

How many beeps you got ? Unplug everything except monitor cable, keyboard mouse and power socket and then switch it on.

Not much differance in those 2 cpu's neither

If it's cpu you'll get no post beeps at all m8

looks like the 'J' is the better option one...

Pete,

how many times does it beep, and what make is the BIOS ?

The number of beeps usually tells what the problem is, a bit like ECU fault codes

Ah ok, usually, it's the number of beeps, bios' are not usually musical enough to play a melody

So it's the CPU then !

http://support.intel.com/support/pro...S-020033.htm#1

Send it back to where you bought it from then They will test it, then send it back to Intel who will confirm the fault, then the company who supplied you will either refund you, or replace it, depending on their return policies
