or get the std manifold modded.

Cos management is a BIG task, and u have to consider what u are trying to acheive. On a 230bhp car, it doesnt have that many benifits.

Weber EFi will give you a 100% reliable engine that will not melt pistons once it has been set up. It will also produce 100% of what your engine is capable of.

You won't NEED an adaptor plate. One can also grind some material away directly from the old head.

Only with some heads can you do the above!!!! + The seal is not great if you can!

If the head is off you could grind the ports yourself

But that would involve taking the valves out so you dont end up with loads of metal in the seats. Then having to lap them back in.

Whats the chances of grinding all the ports exactly the same??

For the small amount it costs for an adaptor plate i dont think its worth taking the head off or trying to grind the shapes yourself IMO

Jano, You make simple things sound so difficult, but everyone to their liking. You do understand that the point is not to grind even closely so much material away to match the shape of the efi head. That's overkill. People have even installed efi inlets to RST heads without doing anything, by accident, and have noticed nothing wrong. About matching the shapes, taking the head off and re-lapping the valves. You amuse me this time.
The real advantage of the adaptor plate, I find, is the extra thermal isolation of the inlet manifold. The downside is the moving of the manifold backwards. It will not clear many strutbraces and runners were longish to begin with.
In anycase all the pros and cons are minor and you do what makes you get a good nights sleep after doing it.

If you've got the engine in bits, how about just using an efi head from the off?
