st170 gearbox
been thinking while i was at work about a box for the S2,
Since you can use a st170 block for a zvh (i think) a standard s2 box bolts on to that so can a st170 box bolt on to the standard 1600 block??
Any help would be gr8.

Yes but a hell of a lot of work is needed like
Custom drive shafts
Custom flywheel
Hydraulic clutch conversion
Mounting points
are just a few of the mods needed

ST box is cable operated, so getting it to work would be a bastard! Also the box i designed to be used with a high revving engine, so it may not work well in a turbo if you do get it to fit.

ST1170 is a duratec, not zetec. The 6speed box is quite weak, which is why it wasnt used in Focus RS

But then again the ST170 Duratec is a Zetec. Just like the Focus RS Duratec-badges Zetec.

Not the best for a turbo engine's
Not the best ratio's
I wouldn't know what it would be like on a high revving zetec engine?

So which is it? Zetec or Duratec, I thought the same as Rick, Duratec myself!

Not true. The ST170 box has a higher torque rating than the MTX75 box.
Edit:
http://www.getrag-ford.de/daten/MMT6_E.PDF
IB5 = 168Nm
MTX75 = 375Nm
MMT6 = 450Nm

Not in RSTs. IB5 is the latest 93 or 95 forward standard duty FWD gearbox. Quite similar appearance than the older BC gearbox found in RSTs as well.
