Default Sorry for swearing, but anyone any good with Vauxhall engine

as me dads got a 2.0 16v OMEGA (Automatic)

and when in drive mode it just cuts out, no warning or nothing. Its quite common and happens on most journeys.

It idles at 600 rpm, which i thnk is slightly low for a 2.0 litre motor, but could just be vauxhalls, i dont know.

but when your on the throttle, its fine, then when you come off the throttle to slow down, if your off the throttle for long enough it sometimes cuts out, but mainly when you come to a stand still.

any help would be appreciated.

AMM = Air Mass Meter
TB = Throttle Body
the bit between them - rubber pipe

ICV for sure mate, well known problem. take it off and clean it up with carb cleaner, and check the breathers while you're at it.

Normally if its ICV though on the vauxhall lumps (especially the C20XE) it results in the idle wnadering up and down a lot.
Like literally up to 3K, down to 500rpm, up to 3k, back down etc.

yeah but also can't seem to catch the revs coming up to junctions etc.

my old mans vectra used to stall at junctions, revs wondered about etc. etc.

put new breather pipes on and cleaned out the ICV and it was better, still dips a little but no stall. recently started to idle at 1500rpm again tho so did it again last weekend seemed to fix it.
apparantly its because the crankcase breather returns to the throttle housing and gunks it up.

x20xev could be several things mate is the engine management light on? either constant or intermitant,
suffer from idle control probs, there is a modified iac vale but when this is fitted u need to carry out a couple of mods to the breathing of the engine, and is a good idea to get the ecu updated to at this time, as youll be using tech 2 to adjust the tps,
but could be a sensor too poss crank or cam!
hope this helps
