What do I buy for my next runaround? Any Capri nuts around?

Has to be quick and so I'm leaning towards another Clio mk1 1.8 16v. Loved my last one despite its frenchness
Other option is a Capri 2.8i, which I've had a cracking insurance quote for, considering its engine size.
Which would you go for and does anyone know what the HP is for the Capri, plus fuel consumption and 0-60 time?
CheeRS folks,

CheeRS folks,
If I remember rightly the 2.8i is approx 150bhp
As for the rest who cares..... the Capri is a far better buy than some french pap.
Lovely bit of tail happy action in the wet, ice & snow... the ideal winter car

I think the Capri was 160bhp, more than the 150bhp XR4i because the Capri has twin exhaust pipes.
And although the engine is uninspiring and really pretty crap, it's gonna be a fun car, whereas a horrid old Clio... hmm...
Anyway, the Capri wouldn't depreciate, the Frog box would.

DO like the Clios as I had one myself but am getting very keen on a Capri now. Thing is, if I don't get one now to take me through to April next year then i will probably never own one and I've always said I should have one at some point as a fan of old school Fords
Are they quick off the mark tho? I'd love to see the Saxo boys faces as they get beat by an old Ford.

I had a 2.8 in a XR4x4, and it was like shaking a bag of spanners at anything over 4000 rpm, whatever. I then had a 2.9 and it was nicer, but that had a zorst and K&N to help it along.
And yes... people with 4i say it feels quicker than 4x4i.

dead by dawn if you push it in the rain
Capri 2.8i fresh out of the factory would have been 160 bhp. Fuel consumption will be around 30.1 mpg motorway driving dropping down to around 18.7 mpg urban driving.
Value is obviously dependant on condition prices vary from Ł500 to Ł800 for a project car up to silly money for a 280.
Parts although still available are becoming more expensive. If you do opt for the Capri consider joining Capri Club International (CCI) always good for sourcing spares. Also check out CapriPowerForum for advice.
