Default s1 ecu question...

a quick question regarding a s1 ecu..

the s1 i`ve got was running 6 psi standard boost..

now i would have thought that that would mean it`s not chipped..

anyway, havin a mess about with it yesterday and decided to test it with a bleed valve instead of the amal valve..

well took it out and was hitting around 12 psi.. so as i understand it wouldn`t hit that without a chipped ecu.

but the cluch is slipping like a gooden now

so is me ecu chipped???

paul.

may be usually 10psi PLUS, means chipped, but have spoken to some owners
who swear it is over 10, and not chipped, if you open up the silver
ecu you should be able to see a chip with company label on it
if chipped,

10psi is the overboost limit in the standard chip.

What if the bleed valve he has fitted has been turned out, would that not increase the boost?

or does the chip limit the amount of boost you can run?

i am on 10psi, on a std ecu

well was out in it again last night...

clutch was slipping like buggery...

anyway when on boost it would just cut the boost so i`m gessing the ecu was cutting it as it`s overboosting..

so set to 8 psi.. no problems now

Yes, but then the ECU cuts the fuel/ignition.
