Cossie head porting
A friend has a 4wd Sierra Cosworth, and is looking to have a little bit of work done to the head.
Nothing major, just some mild porting while the head is off..
Who would come reccomended for such work ?
Thanks, Stevie

surely its about time that someone gave a detailed (includings pics) account of how to port a cossie head.
even if this gave 70% of the benfit that pros heads' gives it would inspire the enthusiasm that this forum is meant to promote????

When I lost my cambelt I had the head ported, just 'cos if the head was coming off anyway why not, for only a little more than it was going to cost me anyway.
I've been told that at Stage 3 you don't NEED to do it of course, but that it would idle a little smoother if the head was ported.

I fully understand your comments. But the guy who owns the car wants it done, as the head is coming off anyway. I did tell him the money would be better spent elsewhere...like on a decent turbocharger.
I'll try and get some prices and see what he says.

Opening the ports up on a mild state of tune is a bad idea, you will drop gas speed thats actually useful to have.
Talk to someone like Karl who knows a massive amount about the YB and what head mods give benefits not losses on your friends level of tune.
