Default What oil?

I was wondering what engine oil you guys use in your RST's. I've got a S1, that I've not owned for long, in need of an oil change. Think its running about 190BHP.

Halfords recomend 0w - 40 oil
RS specialist says this is too thin and recomends fully synthetic 15w - 50
And Fords say this is far to thick get a 5w - 30 part synthetic

Any help would be appreciated.

Had mine set up at Motorsport Developments recently and asked Stu the same question. Mines running bout 180bhp and he said 10w-50 semi synthetic. Everyone will have their opinion on this though.

everyone will have they're own opinion on this subject and there has been loads of posts asking the same question!!!
i use mobil 1 fully synthetic and as far as i am aware it should allways be fully synthetic.
silkoline 10w60 is also a popular choice

Fully synthetic, Mobil 1, Motul or Silkolene. Preferably x/50 rating.

0-40 is too thin and will be no good for the engine a 10-50 or 15-50 will be much better. I always use Mobil1 Motorsport in both my RST's.

Oilman can explain it all in far better detail as he's a bit clued up as his name would suggest
