Default Problem or just crap fuel?

Im back on line again for anyone that remembers me... (www.silversaph.co.uk) with another problem

Driving home last night around 70mph, dropped it down to 4th and floored it, got 3 or 4 big bangs/pops/backfires so lifted straight off, tried it again and got the same. After that had no other problems, was it due to the fact i had no option but to put in crap cheap tescos petrol rather than optimax that i usually use?

Help please!

i think you answered your own question...

was it due to the fact i had no option but to put in crap cheap tescos petrol rather than optimax that i usually use?
Why you would floor the car knowing that the fuel in it isnt upto the job i dont know!

Why you would floor the car with "shit" fuel in it i dont know!
I was on my way home after a long drive, came off the dual carrige way and shit myself when i saw the gauge lol, tescos was the nearest place to go without risking running out of petrol at 1am, so unfortunatly that had to do. Seriously, would that of been the cause?
