right
just when i thought things were going well for me car wise......
i failed its mot a month ago on
1)nearside rear innner sill subframe
2) nearside rear lower outer wise bone bush
3) front brake hoses
4)as above
5)as above
6) power steering leak
7)number plate light out
8)hand brake
9)as above
10)as above
so i payed £135 to have th welding done and power steering leak fixed.
did the bushes this weekend
bulbs i did after it failed
hand brake i did a week ago
hoses i did about 3 weeks ago
went in for an mot today and failed on
1)nearside rear innner sill subframe
2)offsiderear innner sill subframe
3) powersteering leak
4) hand brake
5) co emmissions were 6.2
the ppl that did the welding did the outer sill which didnt need doing but when they had it up on ramp they pulled the side skirts down and expossed rust that the mot tester would not of seen befor. so not only did they not do the welding or the power steering leak they have exposed more rust and there for more money to spend
handbrake failed because the caliper in dead
so all in all, as well as having a new windscreen fitted today i am thoughly pissed off and am now 80% sure that i am going to break the car up and sell as parts
basicly what i wanna no, is , what would i get as a rough total of parts if sold sepaterly. there is nothing fancy on there realy

Hi Mate,
how is the car generally? I think you would be as well to get it through the MOT as it doesnt seem like an awful lot to do really! How much are you going to have to spend out to replace it?
As regards to the welding it seems a bit much that the car has been failed for corrosion on the retest that wasnt noticed before! I know that you say the guys that done the welding had to move the side skirts but thats not your fault! I would be back down there and have a right moan and a groan about it see if you can sort something out.
Rear calipers arent the end of the world most of the local motor factors can supply these exchange and they are not too expensive. I done a pair on mine last year with new discs and pads and was under £200 ( trade) made a world of difference to the handbrake I can tell you!
Where is the power steering leaking from? Adjust the CO with the screw on the ecu, your local friendly garage should be able to do this using an exhaust gas analyser.

thats not to bad a list, bit gutting that it failed twice, Dont you have any friends that can sort that list or perhaps someone on here, mine faied on some very similar bits and because im a bit handy it didnt cost anything, except welding consumables, if you where near me I would do it for you, the rear callipers arent even that bad to recon yourself, where is the power steering leak coming from it should be quite easy to fix unless its the rack.

well i think the leak is coming from where the coloum joins the rack but not 100%
there needs to be a fair bit of welding done, well so im told.
over all condition isnt to bad. its just realy getting to me thats all, and with the rust its just one thing after another.
as for going down there, i have a bit of a short fuse so i may have to get someone else to do it as my dad rekons if i do i will get arrested

dont break it you will regreat it... i just bet your sick of forking out on the car,and so was i, i had some probs myself with mine. All ican say is try and remember the times when the car is performig good and kickin other cars arses also just think sort it out now and you will have many years happy motoring. p.sthe parts are quite cheap for these cars considering the performance of them. i got a new rack off ebay for £75 so even a rack is not that deer
go on fix her
dont let another one lay to rest
