Default Brake Disc Q

i need some more brake discs as mine are cracked to fook, ive just got off the phone to Hi-Spec and their replacement disks are £62 each + VAT

or, if i want them grooved, its an extra £21 each + VAT

so, £150 for plain discs, or £195 for grooved.

is it worth going for grooved???

id say my driving style is faily aggresive, fast road etc.

so grroved will prolly be better to avoid brake fade.

your driving an escort not a buss
IIRC you have quite big brakes on the car..so Whats wrong with 'standard' disks... in whatever size you need.

well, in my cabby i always used to get brake fade.....

not saying i drive like a c*nt or owt but,

that was with RS2000 260mm discs and calipers, they were plain disks tho...

so would grooved make that much of a differenceis what im asking?

Hello m8,

Tarox G88 are a very good disc. Used to have them on my RS2K until they cracked but you could describe my driving style also as aggressive!! Gone back to standard setup now and they are soooooo much quieter but stop just as well.

i found grooved discs didn't make anydifference except to wear the pads faster

im not getting drilled thats what i got at the mo, and they have cracked too fook.

so shall i just get plain discs then???

i just dont want to suffer from brake fade if i do.

i need hi spec ones too as my calipers are on spacers so the offset is not very deep on them.

dunno mate, the calipers are moved towards the out side of the car if that makes sense??

the spacer is bolted to the outer edge of the hub, then the caliper is bolted to the outer edge of the spacer....

how much are cossy discs??

Yer it sound like the same thing i have to do. I have to put some spacers in to push the caliper towards the outside of the car.

heres a guide on the fiesta conversion so u can see if it looks like the same sorta thing. http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=29615

i got some std cossie discs from a motorfactors for around 30 quid each , i was gonna fit them last night but ive lost my fecking locker key so i have gotta fuck about tonight trying to get the cunts off now.

what calipers are u running?? looks to me asif your spacer actually spaces the caliper higher and out rather than just out???

Is this some sort of hi-spec conversion to use original calipers on bigger discs???

right then i dont actually know if a 1.6 caliper will physically fit over a cossie disc but i can check for u tonight wen i do my setup if u like.

i dont really see the point in going bigger discs with the same caliper as the whole point of having bigger brakes is to have more surface area in contact with the disc, which is still same in ur setup compared to std.
