Default Anyone any good with relays?

Maplins didnt do a twin pole relay so i bought two singles instead.

now each one has 5 spades on it can someone give me a rough explaination as to what each will do in laymans terms? so i can rig them together to turn 2 things on at once when given a live?

cheers

Dave

Are there no diagrams on the relays then Dave as there usually are?

Fucking lying bastards!!!

Dave, using a SPDT or 4 pole relay will make things a lot simpler

What you're trying to acheive can actually be done with a double pole switch....

useless schoolkids in there then!

Daz, you're a bit of an electronics wiz...

im trying to turn the als on and the iscv from one switch

the als on the pectel loom as two wires.. when joined , switch on the als..

could you tell me how to incorporate a relay/switch so when i arm the als, it also enables the iscv?

A 5-pin is normally a change-over relay (De-energised, there is an output to one of the pins .. Energised, it will be connected to the other output pin)
The pin layout is the SAME as a Twin-output relay (two pins connected together to the energised outputs)
You should check the pin numbers so you don't confuse them!

You can use a 5-pin as a Standard relay, so long as it plugs in or is wired correctly.

DazC

I have got the same as you but prefer the DOS version from 1989 as it is SO easy to use
and still is very functional compared to todays version.

Not really tried anything else as both versions are just so good.

Nevermind then. I only use it for wiring diagrams so it does far far far more than I ever need it to. Just for version 10.3 of Capture it's £999. I don't need the ability to design PCBs and the like.

daz, superb, thank you!

i think ill go for the twin automotive relay diagram.

pls bear with me as im still a novice to this if i justexpalin how i see the diagram, le me know if its correct

from your diagram, the first relay,

pectel loom als feed #1 to pin 30
pectel loom als feed #2 to pin 87
Pin 87a unused
Pin 85 earthed and joined to pin 85 on 2nd relay

2nd relay

then a fused ign feed through the als das switch, to pin 86 on relay 2, linked to same pin on relay 1
ISV connected to pin 30 and 87
Pin 87a unused

have i grasped that right?
