Please help, me
I have a problem with my 4x4 saff, I was driving the car and it was fine, then it suddenly cut out as I was changing down the gears, I bump started it, as i was moving and it ran for about 30 secs, then cut out again.
Now when I turn the key to start it, it fires and runs for about 2 seconds, then cuts out.
Any ideas what the problem is as I need the car for Stratford tomorrow.
P.S The car has not been started for three weeks, and it had a flat battery, is this anything to do with it?

YES, I may be a bird, but I aint silly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fuel pump primes, getting sparks, all engine timing is correct etc, everything that should be there is there, there are no obvious faults.

could try wiring the fuel pump up permanently.
Sounds as though the fuel pump is working when you crank the engine then cutting out when you release the key.
Get a wire in the live at the pump end, unplug the live wire, shove the wire in and plug the plug back in.
Wire up to a live, either battery or the rear light, depending on the lengh of wire, must turn on the lights though to have a live.

Map Sensor?? My Esc Cos would take ages to start and when it did you tried putting ya foot on the peddal and it just died, which turned out to be MAP sensor! Changed it for a new one and all was fine
i also blew a map sensor on a 4x4 a few yrs back done the same, mind you the hose on the compressor housein split and it prob hit 40 psi or somin pmsl she popped then instantly dies, shat me pants i did
Did you dis-connect the ECU before charging the battery or use a "spike "protector when you charged it ? Im sure you will be more lucky than me but ....if you jump or charge these things with the ecu connected it can , and Does fry the chips , ive had this before with a huge misfire after re-charging a battery on a racecar and found a Drop out on the chip that needed replacing to cure it .!
sure its only a blocked filter or something stupid tho .

all new cars cant be jump started as that DEFFO frys the ecu,,,,,,,,, ask the sales manager at lookers nissan when i fryed the ecu jump starting the 350z with a jump pack
he will remember as the reason the car wouldnt start was i wasnt dipping the clutch
but i said call it learning, we now know to let the batt charge for a while before jumping it
