Default 3" intercooler cores?

i,ve just managed to grab a huge alloy intercooler its just a bit bigger(deeper) and wider(78mm)fitting it wont be a problem but it has 3" outlets, would it have any negative effects if i connected this to turbo&inlet via 3"to2" reducing piping?also is it possible to over intercool a car,or was it a good buy??

Hi,
I reckon you will get away with using reducers on the intercooler but just bear in mind although bigger is often better, there is a limit to how big an intercooler should be! Be prepared for more lag if its a real monster though! Check the core is a coarse finned type though as you could end up with restricted airflow through the coolant radiator leading to overheating problems!

To be fair, the lag will be minimal. Had a scooby and put a FMI on it with yards of pipe...no difference in lag! Expected loads but turbo came on song just as before!

Air, doesn't compress very well!
