Simon, Im renewing an LCD panel and its going to be a twist, backlit one
something like a 22 x 2 alphanumeric
do they come with 16 terminals on the back of the board? maybee all in one line? or two by 8's? and do you know which terminal one controls the backlight or contrast like your secs monitors?
also will a potentimeter be able to be soldered inline so i can adjust the contrast?
if you wouldnt mind giving me a brief run down of what i need to do, to do this?
thanks
Dave

The display will either have a 14 or 16 pin connector.
Pins 1 to 14 are always the same wether they are all in a line or as two rows.
Pins 15 and 16 are the LCD back light if fitted (may be led type or EL type which will need an inverter).
Pin 3 is the contrast control pin.
This needs to be a voltage between 0 and 2 volts or -2 to 0 volts depending on type.
(BE VERY CAREFULL AS YOU COULD BREAK THE DISPLAY OR SYSTEM IT IS CONNECTED TO)
It really isnt something you can advise 100% over the net !!!
Get the data sheet for the new display and if possible the old one too. !!!

Did you find a way to adjust the backlit??
However is set the contrast I find the backlit at little bit too bright!
When an alarm start you can't even read it...
Mine as a standard green display and has been bought brand new few weeks ago.
Cheers
Julien
