soory, to seem sexist cos i really am not, but i use the motorway daily, (2hrs in and 2hrs home) and 99% of the time i am stuck behind or slowed down becuase of middle aged women and older drivers in the rong lanes, and just pulling out with no regard for other users, which if they were in the correct lane then i surly they would be a lot safer to them selves and other motorway users.

erm i actually think its a very good idea and we as a nation need to car share more to cut traffic down , this is an incentive for you to car share so do it if you can , just think if everyone has 1 passenger there would 50%less traffic!!

its not a generisation if after 5 years of driving on the M1 for 4hrs a day 5 days a week the majority of middle lane hoggers whom I have had to flash out the way or slow down to wait for a gap on the outside lane so I can overtake are women, So how am I genalising? (spel).

i think that it's a good idea. most of the traffic on the roads is full size cars with just one person in them. what a waste. why not have a bike or a small car?

you should be encouraged to share your cars more. over here we have parking places by motorway junctions so that people can car share on the motorways.

you never know, you might pick up a well fit nympho bird who can't keep her hands off you. that might backfire though - the camera to pick up passengers wouldn't see her if she went down on you for a bj

seriously though, it really shouldn't be necessary if you had proper lane discipline. over here, a lot of the motorways are good old adolf's original's from the war and are only 2 lanes. trucks are not allowed to overtake (they're all limited to the same speed anyway, so where's the problem?) and people move over when they've finished overtaking and look before pulling out, otherwise they risk having an s class ram them up the arse at 155mph.

if it is introduced, maybe you'll be able to hire illegal immigrants to be your passenger for the day? got to be safer than going cockling?

no your wrong, you said i am generalising which I dont think I am. If i made a sweeping statement without no form of proof or back up then fine, but I am not. I am using 5 yrs of motorway driving, (i have been driving longer, but using Motorway for work since moving 5yrs ago) I dont have any specific problem with middle lane hoggers, but my point is that this new lane will also be open to abuse from people who think that lane restrictions and regulation do in some way not apply to them because they have no care or consideration for any other driver on the road. Which pretty much sums up women in general, (joke)(dont let my wife see that btw )

 

so what happens if you live a fair distance from work, and not near anyone else, you want to do something after work like go to the gym, what happens to your passenger...?

i think the government should really pull their thumbs outta their asses and sort out the public transport situation!

in my experience 99% of problems i ahve with other drivers is with men. i can honestly say that i havent had a problem with female drivers, admittedly most of them are more cautious than male drivers... i find a lot of the time the men are more concerned with showing off and getting where they have to go before they have actually left. i dunno, i think its a bit unfair to say that, but u are talking from personal experience. i dunno, the traffic was really heavy yesterday and i was in the fast lane and couldnt go much more than 50 without sitting on the car infronts bumper, but this guy insisted on sitting on mine and then undertaking me and sitting infront of me for an hour cos he couldnt go anywhere, then this idiot who bezzed it up the hard shoulder cos he thought he had some divine right.

if women were better drivers, why is motorsport so dominated by men?

granted there's an element of bravado, competition and lack of self preservation that men naturally have, and it's nothng to do with physical strength anymore. so why aren't there more women in motorsport and even less successful ones?

i know that a good racing or rallying driver is not the same as a good road driver.

i think that it's been proven that generally men have better spacial reasoning than women. that means that they can interpret the 3d world around them better and quicker than women. i think that goes a way to explaining why men can generally park quicker and better than women and stuff. but i think that it, combined with that lack of self preservation means that men think that they can drive closer and more aggressively than women. that does not mean better either.

a lot of car drivers should try riding a bike sometime, and see just how vulnerable they are without the metal cage around them. then maybe they'd leave a bigger gap.

Because women are still seen as a 'novelty' in the sport. Just look at any car forum to see how dominated EVERYTHING car related is.

And it is true that mens brains are better than womens brains at some things, and vice versa, but not all. Therefore parking may come more naturally to a man but it's a skill that can be LEARNED. I am as good at parking as anyone I know and if anyone is up for a parking challenge I'm there. Just make sure you put some cash on it to make it worth my while

It has also been proved that women have quicker responses than most men. We are also calmer and more rational.. which is probably why we pay cheaper insurance premiums.
