Default Over boosting!!

I've got a 4x4 sapphire, and for some reason unknown to me it has started to over boost I haven't changed anything either!! Could it be some sensor that has broken down?
Any idea's?

Cheers

Andy

start by pressure checking the system, it could be letting out air at some point
cousing the car behaving like it's overboosting.

If the actuators knackered it wont hold boost. Its more likely the Amel Valve that sits on top of the intercooler. Thats what controlls the actuator. They're not too expencive and still available form fords.

Ford call them wastegate control valves i think

you can run and set up an actuator without an amel valve but the boost is then controlled solely by the spring in the actuator rather than the ecu.

If Rand wants to bypass the amel valve to check it, simply take the vacuum pipe thats on the actuator and plumb it straight in to the back of the turbo, bupassing the valve. DONT FORGET to wind the actuator OUT (lengthen the threaded bar) to reduce the boost level first just incase its too high. If the boost is then steady, adjust the actuator to the correct level buy winding the adjuster bar back in (make the bar shorter. If it still over boosts then it must be a jammed actuator but that rearly happens.

Good luck

Default over boosting!

Cheers gents,

I've done what funkyboozer has said and it is still doing it it seems to be doing it at around 4k in 3rd to 5th gears only I've tried taking it passed 4k by feathering the throttle but it doesn't want to play!! Suppose its to a garage time!!
