Default Feckin carbs! (questions/rant)

What fuel pressure would a car on twin 45 dellortos normally run?

And why the FUCK do they start easy sometimes, and take for ever other times?

Once it starts it idles fine wether cold or hot, but starting can be a RIGHT fucker, infact ive just flattened the bastard battery as it was refusing to fire

Any hints/advice apart from burn the fucker, which i cant as it aint mine and worth about 7k

Mine are set 3-4 psi.
When starting i give it two pumps on the loud pedal then turn it over while slowly pressing the pedal down, it never fails.
Its very easy to flood it pumping the pedal lots.

What you do to sort if if its flooded anyhow?
Howd you know its flooded?

With this car sometimes it takes ages and a lot of pedal pumping to get the fucker to start, but it gets there in the end
Apart from this time when its flatteneed the battery

If it dosnt start like the others have said... and you've flooded it.. go wide open throttle and keep cranking till it fires, do not stop or take your foot of the pedal.

Cold engine.. 2 pumps and crank depress throttle
Warm engine.. crank and deress throttle
Flooded engine.. WOT and keep cranking

:

it wont start, best way to sort a flooded carb is to turn over with full throttle, and even better to turn the fuel pump off.

normal carbs run about 3-4 psi as sed above.

best way to start is as sed above, 2 pumps, turn over, and slowly dip the throttle.
