bad idle

Default bad idle

my S2 is doing my head in ( i know thats wot there supposed to do.lol ) she wont idle the revs drop down to around 2-300rpm then cuts out! she's fine when driving put pulling up at junctions and the likes she cuts out ive checked my boost hoses for leaks and cant see owt, does anybody have any ideas as to wot this could be?

mine had the same symptons turned out to be a split in the breather hose to the engine block, you will need to check all hoses for an air leak.

not sure if it is an air leak just wot someone mentioned.! was also told to spray carb cleaner into the meatering head but not to sure were to spray it or if i should

Has it just stared doing it? Breather pipes need checking as well as the boost one's mate, as the crankcase is linked to the metering head.

You can incease the idle speed as a temp measure. Has the timing been altered at all?

yeah only just started to do it the car was off the road for a month or so then went out in it and it was fine did a good 2hours driving no problems got in the next night and it started to not idle.. thanks for the replies im gonna have a good look about 2morrow just need to know wot to look for.lol.

dipstick is in ( just checked ) although there is oil been sprayed about a bit onto my rocker cover ( on top of it ) on my drivers side strut and on plug no3!! looks like it could be coming from the R/C gasket leaking would this cause me problems with idle?

timing was retarded a couple of months ago! but was fine since till now.

that because you will have a air leek into the breather system in you dont have a brether kit fitted that is so the car will run lean on idel. be it would have to be a bad leek to do this
