Took my car out for a run for the first time since the new engine went in last night and noticed a whining noise coming from one of the drive belts (not sure if CAM or Alternator) when putting it in the garage.

What can cause this? Belts too tight (very unlickly to be cam belt!) or not enough lubrication on pulleys?

sounds like the belt is tootight to me

 

Max did take his head out from the engine bay BEFORE you shut it didn't he?

I'd say the belt is too tight,had this on my mates work tranny and the cam belt was too tight

 

Hopefully its the alt belt. gonna loosen it tonight to see if it is.
