Default is XMAS too commercialised now?

As a Store Manager I have got so much stuff in me shop now its unreal. Boxed choccies, advent calendars, gift bags, cards, tinsel, baubles in tomorrow.

I am getting just a wee bit disillusioned with retail now. I know that in all jobs that we do, commercial profit has to come in to it, but is it fair on the kids these days?

all the nostalgia of santa has gone. I was in a meeting with the shopping centre yesterday, and the centre will not be having a santa grotto this year.

Me, being Vice-Chairman who represents the tennants of the Mander centre questioned this. I was told that a>kids now knew santa did not exist, b> the cost was too much> and get this c> the council are so strict now on health and safety its not a viable idea.

WTF?

So xmas is nothing any more than a good piss up i guess then? Least of all I have to work on boxing day this year if i stay with the company.

Xmas eve i wil lbe wroking 7am, until 5pm ish. Take me staff out for a drink, get home about 8ish so i can see me kids. Xmas day off, back in boxing day

Christmas has totally lost the meaning it had when i was little it was all about santa and his elves making toys for good kids , Family and friends spending time together and generally spreading the love - These days the only thing kids are interested in is whos gettin the better toy and go balistic if they dont get what they want and adults use it as an excuse to get fookered and moan about the amount of money they have spent and the retailers fire out merchandise as early as poss and from any angle they can.

I still love christmas and i will make my little boys christmas' as magical as my mum used to make mine.

Think there should be a law against shops etc advertising Christmas stuff before Nov 5th! It gets earlier and earlier every year

Christmas used to be a special time, cheesy xmas records, plenty decorations and a family atmos, a real feeling of something happening and mega nights out. Now there's fook all decorations, last year the shops hardly bothered, more January sale signs than anything else and that was at the start of December! Some bollox at number 1 that has about as much to do with christmas as Hitler and a feeling of commiting suicide
