i had a similar problem, only happened when the car got warm. i put in a new idle speed control valve (auxillary air device) and its been working fine since.

check the hoses on either side of the valve as one of mine had come loose causing an air leak.

its underneath the inlet manifold at the back of the engine bay.

its a bit fiddly to change it over especially from the top of the engine but i managed and im mechanically inept at the best of times!

hi patto

in all the years of tuning rs turbos i have never had to change an auxillary air vavle as long as the m head is clean, you have clean oil brether pipes and the dipstick has not come out. all it will need most of the time is the base mixture setting as this is a mecanical system a can go out of tune very quikley the best thing to do is to have it all set up on a rolling road for the best resault.

Where can i get some carb cleaner from or can i just use something like WD40 just to clean all the crap from the inlet pipes.

managed to get some carb cleaner off my mate who works for wurth in the end. gave the 'flap' a good clean, am yet to test it out due to rain stopping play recently.

went to halfords and they were fucking useless as always.

pointed me in the direction of the nearest polish

my idling problem is real intermittent though, it will go through a period of idling really low then sometimes it will rise again.

am gonna give my k+n filter a clean as well see if that helps....
