Is this engine anything worth in tearms of turbocharging.
I'm asking because I'm hoping to convert my erst to efi and was wondering if I could use the block for anything of is it crap.

no mate, need low comp pistons at least

 

It has many minor advantages over the RST engine, but of course it first needs some decent pistons.

 

Would the rst crank, pistons and conrods do the jobgood enough?

 

Yes, it would become the same as an ERST bottom end.

You would need to change and add a few components and fittings etc..
My own engine is not an ERST Block

 

My escort has a mk5 efi engine too. One bonus is, that it has the mount for a standard Bosch knock sensor at the back of the block. Crank and rods are anyhow the same as std ERST items. Big end bearings are uprated in the ERST engine by the way, so a good idea to change those as well.
