Welcome to Pf

Looks tidy from the picture, but suppose they all do after a respray. Check for rust on rear chassis rails as that kills a lot of them. Other than that its general stuff you would check on any car.

A above, but that one in the link, take the dump valve off as it'll run better, take the gay badges off the rear and you'll have a tidy S2

Providing the body work/engines sound

is the one above a good starting point, obviously from what the ad describes your limited on your answer, but whats the general opinion?

im not scared of getting me hands dirty, ive previously owned a corsa LET conversion, toyota starlet gt turbo, pugeot rallye s1,s2 and a daihatsu charade GTti!

the last one ended up in the river medway for those that know it lol

Looks tidy enough with the very limited mods I would guess about 175bhp. Ditch the DV and it will run so much better.

Rust rust and more rust are the main things. Check panel alignment. Smoke on cold startup is usually valve stems and is a piss easy job to sort yourself. Check for knocks from the engine and make sure the LSD is still present as a lot of people kill the original box and stick an XR3i one in to save a few quid. Make sure the car drives and brakes in a straight line and make sure teh ABS works (if fitted) although you may well decide to remove it as it's shit anyway.

Don't buy it with the heart buy it with your head. I've seen people part with cash for what has essentially been a polished turd. And I viewed several Fiesta Turbo's that were the same. Two of the cars I viewed were eventually sold and surprise surprise they are back up for sale again.

Shame it's not a full 90 spec as he mentioned, but hey what's a front bumper?

Check, sills, chassis rails, batt tray, sunroof (open right up and check runners and down as far as poss, tell tale signs will be the flakes that fall out when you open it ) bootlid, bonnet, basically everywhere you can, spend as LONG AS POSSIBLE going over it with a finetooth comb, if anything doesn't look right...walk away dont be pressured by anything mate

From the spec it's at now I would start with a large capacity intercooler and go from there.

You will want better brakes as RST brakes are frankly crap. And a decent suspension kit to tighten the chassis up.

There is loads you can do it's just a case of how far you want to take it.

Interior wise you can add the leather gearlever gaitor from a Mk3.5 Fiesta and fit a good quality gearknob and steering wheel. Make sthe interior so much nicer.

You can also add the add ons that are missing like the trip computer (usually more trouble than it's worth), variable intermitant wipe and the extended handbrake console (if not already present). The car looks like my S2 where in it has 90 spec seats but not much else. Least that one has teh spoiler I had to add all of the 90 spec to mine

GRS is a very popular intercooler and a lot of people rave about them. My personal choice would be the big Pace front mount but it is expensive. Most people who use the GRS intercooler use a twin fan set up. A proven cooler

Seems a good car for the money

If you buy a GRS you will need to use different fan's due to lack of space between the Cooler and the Rad,slimline Kenlows should do the trick, but id advise 2

As already mentioned, look for rust, rust and more rust!!!Looks good in the picture!!!And change the boost hose's they look to be the origional to me and go soft with age, replace with Samco one's or similar. Also the brake pipes from the master cylinder dont look like the origional one's to me,if they are'nt,ask why.Regards Micky
