Seems a fair price for an unusual car on such a late registration, so what if its built up , as long as its been done well. Would cost far more to try and do it yourself and a nightmare to try and then register.

Possible.
but why give yourself the headache of when you want to sell it.
imo, i would go for a car that people will buy when you want to sell it.
Nothing against the built cars myself but there is a limited market for them when its time to sell.
have a really good think about it.
Dave.

I personally wouldn't touch it mate, but as Dave says it's your money your decision.
Just be sure that you think with your head and not with your heart and take someone with you that knows about Escort Cosworths.
I'm pretty sure there has been a few posts about this car in the Escort Cosworth forum, I'll have a look for them. Something about a Saph. engine and fibreglass front bumper, might be a different car though!
Good Luck!

Check it over carefully for panels and paint, J28 don't seem to give away many bargains!
On the log-book it may not say Escort Cosworth due to the late registration, may just say Escort 2 litre. As above you may have a very hard time selling it on as well. People paying 13-17k for such an old car are a funny breed and want things spot on
I think you may be able to knock them down a bit on price, as for a private sale it would struggle to sell for that much in my view.

This was the one I was talking about, but it's a different car:

mate its 13k and ya can stick ya plate on it, no matter what cossie ya buy ya gonna loose money on em, it sounds perfect for ya and resonably priced ( no 25k for example
)
just get it checked over and enjoy it
and make sure the fooker dont leak as thats a common prob on the built cars

ive just seen the car and it actually looks ok reg is r666 and i forgot rest lol it seems a fair car i would say 15k worth if it wasent a motorsport shell! they have a mint saffy in magenta for 7500 aps etc what would be a better buy
the saffy is my mates car if anyone interested
The only thing is May 2000 should be an X reg unless the R plate is a cherished left on by the previous owner.
Latest registered cosworth I have seen apart from my old car was also an X plate but it was a white one built up from a converted LHD shell X957 JCS
Bid him 12k and as you say worst case you break it to get your money back - you can shift an entire car in 4 weeks on ebay - thats what I did.

looks odd because its a 95 onwards shell, but fitted with old type s/wheel and wing mirrors etc, easy enough to change though i suppose, main thing is to find out who built it and what it is registered as,doubt it would be legible for rsoc membership if that bothers you at all?
Only thing i will says is ,,If you dont like it mate when you have bought it
I bet youi a large amount of cash you WILL NOT break it for 12k
No leather
No escort cosworth on the logbook
No sunroof
Will break for 9k MAX
Paul
Looks well tho , But 10k max for a car like that mate

If it's not meant to be then it's not meant to be mate.
Has C Cos still got his Pacifica one for sale?

My Escos motorsport is the same...BUT it is a P reg and has cosworth on the logbook...mine is mint and for the money a bargain as it was everything i wanted...i didnt want a sunroof or airbags and wanted a EEC4 engine on P8 large turbo and you try finding a factory built one like that!
....The biggest bonus is your find it wont need a CAT for MOT well mine dont ..Plus mine got mint leather air con (taken out) 18inch OZ super Ts...NEW mongoose many under bonnet enhancements oh and 37000 miles!....people are funny fuckers but mine i consider is worth more than most...LOL....i paid 12k and i reckon i could get near back by breaking....the equivilant condition Ford one to mine would be 15k plus..i will never sell it whole...i bought it to keep till its a rusty old mess like my SAff...Cosworth for ever baby.
Mine was built by a REAL pro though!

Still for sale atm mate, got a guy coming to see it for the second time tomorrow though, so fingers crossed I may have a buyer
If you've got the time to come and see my car Steano, I'm 100% you'll wanna take it. Has had all the right bits on it, mapped by Ahmed Bayjoo, so won't melt on you, has had the suspension fully set up and paint is excellent on the car. (soz for the sales pitch
Like I said before, I'm only selling due to the fact I wanna pick up my mates RS500, I spent thousands on it last year and the car is sweet......if it don't sell I'll keep it, ain't to bothered though
Keep looking though mate, you'll find the right one eventually....don't make the mistake of buying an average car just because you've seen a lot of dogs out there.
Good Luck and keep us posted
Good Luck
