What is the ride like with coil overs on a 4x4 sapp need to get some but don`t what to fook up the ride(lose me teeth) . can you adjust soft and hard as you can on konis etc..

A few peeps said there no good for the road and only really for the track

 

Coil-overs? hard as you like
We can order them softer, with less lb springs, but it will not be as smooth ride as conventional set up, but then they handle 10 times better!!

I went for a ride in a 4x4 cossie that was on avo coilovers and the ride was a little bit more harsh than konis on its hardest setting.
not sure what poundage springs it had though
wasnt too bad i thought.

but fook me it did handle very well

im going for some when i have the cash

 

AS long as it`s not as bad as it used to be driveing this
back pains etc..

You may also want to take into account.Ideally you need to weld the rear shock upright's as when you think about it when you go to coilovers you are doing away with the spring underneath the car.So you are putting all the stress on 1 point (where the shock bolts) And also been told that fitting of a rear strut brace is needed.You will also find that you get a bit of vibration through the car where the coilover rubs against body as instead of just a shock going up the hole you now have a shock + spring.Hth

I wish people would stop it with this myth!

1. You wont get any rubbing, as you move the inner arch back to STOP it rubbing.

2. I thrashed the shit out of my saff on coilovers and slicks on track loads, hitting kerbs and all sorts, and it didn't even crack the paint, let alone stress the top mount.

I could understand the need for strengthening on a rally car, but I would love to meet someone who has cracked a rear suspension top mount due to the fitment of coilovers.

I stand corrected. Just something i heard and was passing on as a concern.My mate has them fitted to his 3dr and they do rub slighlty on the body.Mainly when turning 1 way or another.
And Spiky has them fitted ot his and i'm sure they rubbed as well.

Yes that's true, but your everyday road car doesn't do 90 over a flat crest now does it?

 

Only need them because i am fitting 18in mo`s.
happy with the ride on the konis but don`t fancy hitting the spring cup with a hammer to stop them rubbing on the front

 

I will be fitting a strut brace just in case
