Default Are numberplates part of an MOT?

Probably a stupid question, but my car's going in for it's MOT tomorrow and my numberplates have illegal spacing between the letters, does it matter?

Hopefully someone will know for definite as I don't want it to fail on something so stupid.

Thanks

depends on the tester but legally yes it does need to be correctly spaced.

If you want a plain basic set made up quickly i can knock you a set up this afternoon. Im only in Rayleigh, 2 minutes from the Dick Turpin pub on the A127.

Harsh!!!

It's just that my personalised plate doesn't really say anything without a bit of illegal spacing. The letters are all the correct dimemsions and type though.

Better change them then! Just for one day mind!

Thanks for the replies guys.

take the legal ones with u and leave them in the boot

so when he checks the boot he will see them and then will prob not bother to fail it on the plates as he knows u will change them outside and want him to retest it there and then and it will waste his time and cause paperwork that ain't needed
