Default 2wd rear brake wear

Rear brakes seem to be wearing faster then the fronts (rear wheels more dirty then fronts and replacing rear pads often), anyone any ideas?

Is brake disk heating a lot ? Check calibers , brakepistons could be jamming ?

hope that helps

Had a thought, have been using halfords rear pads, only because they were available at the time and i needed them quick, could this have something to do with it, maybe they are softer or something?

mines the same too. 2 sets of rears and only one front so far. But they are a thinner pad on the back compared to the fronts

Mine are the same, the rear wheels always get dirty with brake dust before the fronts. I think its something to do with the hanbrake mechanism being built into the rear caliper, there is quite a strong spring in the rear caliper for handbrake operation which keeps pressure on the piston and therefore the pads also if the handbrake operating lever mechanism shaft within the caliper is sticking this will keep a bit of pressure on the rear pads, i'm planning to strip and recondition my rear calipers this winter i'll see what I find.

At stevedohc16v just mentioned, is your handbrake sticking, or rear calipers siezing, common problem on all sierras.
