Default saw two "stage 3" escort cossies on the rollers to

as above saw them on the rollers at AVA today....anyone guess what power they made??

Must be a huge variance in different rollers as they produce massively diff figs than most people would think..

245! so thats about 290 at the fly

thats prob a good bit less than most people would expect but again prooves that a basic stage three is no where near 330 bhp

greens 25 psi on standard coolers

doesnt "prove" that at all

what it does prove is that you dont know how ava figures compare to elsewhere!

'IF' they made 330bhp at the fly, then what power would that equate to at the wheels?

i said 240-260 as ive seen escorts make 200-220 wheels and get quoted 320-330 fly on rollers i trust
i also watched my own car make 185 wheels on the same rollers but i have an ava print out of 235

rw's old escort - 195 @ ava, 171 @ nobles, both quoted 220 fly

you really trying to say standard escort cosworth transmission loses 45hp from fly to wheels @ 290 fly? sorry but thats utter rubbish

A 4x4 cos will loose far more than 45bhp through the transmission.

Don't forget to get your 2WD rolling losses measured on your front wheels to give an accurate comparison

AVA's rollers start a heated debate again

In all honesty, the figure don't matter. You should only use it as a benchmark.

Measure the difference from standard to stage 3 for example.

i think ava rollers are probably one of the best in the uk
im just saying the things rapidcossie posted at first prove absolutely nothing other than what the car makes at the wheels on those rollers

It doesn't lose that at all - where do you get that figure from? ON most rollers, u will get 80-100hp loss on a 4by - on ava's u will get a lot less as they are larger diameter rollers.

Not saying they're not m8, it's just every time someone mentions them online a massive debate starts!

Hey chopter was out in coco yesterday coco still has limiter issues after all these years lol

Comparisons have seemed like a waste of time over the years - the only half decent one was the noble comparison but they have temp issues so dont know about true repeatablity. Go with what you are happy with I have tested many cars at AVA - and they have always driven exactly like their graph - thats good enough for me.

How can you generalise losses? If so an Audi A3 Quattro looses 100bhp, therefore it has only 80bhp at wheels? And a mini with 38bhp has about 8 bhp at the wheels. How does it get up hills

Ive always thought , if your driving around in you car happy with it , if u take it to the rollers for a power run and it does not make a much as u liked , does this change your attitude towards your car

Euan what did your old engine do at a.v.a mate ? that was stage 3 wasn`t it whatever it was if im round about this iL be happy

a.v.a did tell me 25bhp lose roughly through my old S2 would of thought u doubled this for 4wd

makes absolutely no sense at all

you can generalise with a percentage not a fixed figure!!!

using the losses from a 330hp escort on a sub 100hp 4*4 would be clever - how the fuck can it have minus bhp at the wheels

the losses are heat, the more the bhp, the more the heat, the more the loss

I was getting at everyone is using xbhp figures Indeed loss is heat, why almost every car is different
