Default Why or how did you get into fords

All my m8s older bothers had MK1 and MK2 when I was at school and me mum had various ford from capris to a MK2 Escort 1.6L and seeing the new RS in the showroom it grew from there.

Then my dad gave me a transit when I was 17 in half and hour I had swapped for a sunburst red XR3.

Which was modded with colours coded orion grill red seat runners mk4 rear lights god knows how many speakers from the stolen dumped cars that littered the area where I lived.

Which I then traded in for an F reg XR3i which I then traded in for my Old ERST.

So how comes you got into fords

The bloke down the street from me had a black S2, on a D plate. It was brand new, right out the packet! I took one look at it and decided I NEEDED to own one. 11 years later I finally got one!

my big sister had a mk 2 when i was small, and when i started my first job, a bloke who worked there ,used to pick me up on his way in, he had a mk 1 esc , light blue, think it had revolution wheels, it was stripped and had a cherry bomb, it was the BEST car i had ever been in, at that point, i was 16 and it was in 1988

then when i got passed my test i got a mk 4 .1.3l and made a rst replica

i also worked at vauxhall for 6 years, and if you see the amount of new cars that came into the workshop, you would never buy one,

i am a fan of rallying and was always fond of the Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts. i was talking with my old man about what car i was going to buy (was still 16 at the time), said i wanted something that was cheap to tune, a bit different, good looking and had some serious street cred. things like Mini's and Mk1 or Mk2 Escorts came up. that day we were in WHSmiths and my old man showed me a copy of Classic Ford. that was it, i was hooked and the love afair started, bought myself a 1300GT with bucket seats, bubble arches and minilites about a month later.

from that i bought my XR3i Cab, my next step was going to be a S1 RST but insurance is being a bitch so i can't get covered with my current company on any RS till i'm 21. this has put me at a dead end road with Fords, so the plan is to go jap, buy myself a 200SX and then when i'm older and wiser get back into my Fords, hopefully getting a 3dr or a EsCos (both child hood dreams) or another old skool escort - this time an RS tho.

Having the Scalextric set with the RS1600 Mk1 Escort & the TR7, certainly wasn't going to favour the Triumph!

Also saw a Sebring mk1 Escort Mexico in town when I were a lad & fell in love with it, & seeing them at hillclimbs & being into old rally cars.

Dad had a couple before my time and then got into Sierras when they first came out. We had a normal sapphire for a while, then a white hatch before the red hatch which we have had for 13 years now. I had the cossie brochures to cut up as a kid which the salesman gave him when he got the first sapphire.

Stayed into cossies throughout as a mate had a tiger striped anglia with a cossie conversion in the mid nineties and then another had an ebony black saph. Have only ever owned Fords progressing from the fiesta through escort, sierra and now cossie.

Started driving life in an MG Metro then bought a beige montego moved onto a 1.3 escort and then bought my first XR3i, D reg in black and loved it, then a MK3 Black one, then a red MK4 then an XR2, moved away to a Pug 1.9 GTI the Rover 800 turbo then to a FRST in black (best car EVER!!!) I sold this to buy a Rover Tomcat??? then bought my S1 and have a P plate secort 1.6 for work.

Fords always felt the best to drive, and the most fun so I always came back to the blue oval, and here i'll stay.

Never really got into them till I got my first Turbo'd Series 1 turbo then couldn't believe there speed and smile per mile factor! then into cossies which you still cant beat for fun!

Once I joined the RSOC and started learning about the cars you then appreciate the racing heritage of them as well!! The rally dominant Mk2 Escorts, The mighty RS500's the pure speed machine RS200, the List goes on!

They are awsome machines and have set the way for many modern rally/race cars.

Most modern cars just dont have the same pedigree or following, even the Subarus and Mitsibushi's are relative Babies on the scene!

Started off with a 1.1 fiesta then always had fords from there. Got a 1.4 ghia orion which got stuffed then managed to get hold of a 1.6 ghia I with all the body kit on & looked just the way I wanted my other one to before it went to the scrap yard in the sky. Never really had a thing for the escort or the rs turbos but my mate had a cossie & went out in that & just got addicted so from saying that I'd never own an Rs Turbo I've had mine for near on 5 years now & it still gives me the same buzz as when I first bought it although my pockets are a hell of a lot emptier

Not into Fords per se, only certain models.... Love Rallying, so always loved mk2 'scorts....

Dad had brand new 3.0S Capri in gold in '81 as company car (like in professionals) - I was 5 and loved it, even though he said it was the worst new car he'd ever owned.....

Then mates had Capri's when we were 17 - much fun had. Always liked RWD and Cosworths as a kid as well.....

My first memory of loving Fords was when I used to walk to middle school in the mornings (I must've been about 10 / 11) one of the Mums used to drop her kids off in an metallic blue mk4 Escort Eclipse - that was it, I always told myself I wanted an Escort.

A few years after that my Dad got G plate Saph 2.0i Ghia, this was luxuary compared to his battered old brown Y reg Cav.

My first car was a mk3 1.1 Escort, and i've only ever owned Fords ever since (altho had a couple of leased Smart Cars in between )

I honestly couldn't see me owning anything other than Ford now.

well, I always wanted a Black S2 RST, but ended up buying a mk 2 astra GTE 16V that had been played with, it made 172BHP@the wheels and revved so hard that the digital dash would go past the redline and start coming back up at 1000RPM and I was 18, killed so many RST's in it that I decided there was no real point in getting one, so I started looking at pulsar GTI-R's and supra twin turbos ( yes, at 19 ) and I was all set to buy a pulsar at Ł6000, but no fooker would insure me on it (funny old thing that, eh?? at 19 with 1 yrs NCB) so I asked my insurance company what they would insure me on- only thing they could do was a saff cossie for Ł1200 TPFT so when I got my promotion at work an a big fook off payrise ( for a 19yr old lol) I went cossie shopping, and ended up with a 280BHP RWD flint grey 90 saff on 17's and leatherd up which then blew its head gasket in the first weekend and then the insurance comany turned round and said they made a mistake and could only cover me for Ł1600 But fook it, it was fun
