Default MOT and relocated battery

Does a battery that's been moved to the boot have to be in a box or does it just have to be secure ?

I was planning on unbolting the battery tray and bolting it to the boot floor and securing it using the clampy things but I'm not sure if it will pass the MOT or not....

Any ideas ?

Cheers

James

Mines in the boot and is just clamped using proper Battery Clamps.

It is an Optima Battery. I think that if I were going to use a 'Normal' Battery, I would put it in a proper Battery box.

i stuck mine in the boot of my pulsar. Just moved the stock battery tray and clamps and bolted them to the floor of the boot with no bother from the MOT man

battery security is not a failure believe it or not unless it would be possible for it
to affect other testable item's i'e brakes steering or suspension in any way
although that does not mean it's legal and if a tester think's it's dangerous they
can rufuse to test it.

But for your own safety i would secure it anyway

In Class 4, batteries are not a testable item.

I beleive thier security is on class 7 though.

Not a worry for us car drivers!
