Its a ship engine aint it for a big tanker?

 

Yeah think it is Rhys, I see the new advert for the Jaguar Twin Turbo Diesel and think bloody hell, then I see this...........

 

It's for a container ship. speed isn't a big thing for tanker operators, as oil doesn't go off.

16 clylinder slow speed 2 stroke. Only revs to 100rpm. And even thats not sustainable! Worked on these fuckers for years! Takes a day to change a piston....

 

But on Discovery the other day! they was saying about these ship engines! had the most powerful one on there so might have been this! Said with the weight it works out less than 1hp ber tonne But works out does somthing silly to a 1000miles per gallon of fuel for every tonne of cargo!! somthing liek that! know i was impressed! lol

We don't arse around measuring fuel in gallons. We measure in tonnes. 150 a day.
