Default Turbo noise ??

just got back from the ford fair and i treated my S2 2 a new -31 act as mine was poor as piss...

i fitted it there and then and drove it home 180miles back to Doncaster. I wound the pre-load in just enough so i could pull it over the wastegate. It boosted straight away and very smoothly 2, however it went 2 18psi then held 16ish, but my turbo sounds like a jet plane taking off, its very loud so on the off chance i didnt let it go past 10psi incase of over-boost...

its chipped with all the usual sensible mods, and when i arrived home the tailpipe was a light black/grey....

So does it sound like the turbos gonna go pop or is it normal for it 2 b loud ????

Well what boost was it running before you fitted the new actuator?

Ifi t spiked to 18 and held 16 before dont worry about it,but if not-Get to a tuner and get it set up or your engine might go pop

it was around 10psi before and held 8psi, but it was overfueling and sutting the tail pipe up now its a light grey colour without the smell of fuel....but its the noise of the turbo that was worrying cos its well loud....

Mine has lasted years with ~23psi. Not ideal though I admit.
