Default Think im losing oil pressure

Hi, since i changed my oil to 15w 40w, was on 5w 50w mobil 1, my oil pressure has dropped quite abit, i changed to a thicker oil coz when my turbo blew up a few weeks ago, universal turbos recommend that i used a thicker oil to protect the turbo a bit more, so i changed it when i put the new turbo back on,

looking at my oil pressure gauge, when the engine is hot, im not even making 2.8 bar at 2k revs, only just at 3k, the oil pump is geniune ford one only covered 4k miles along with the bottom end, it was making about 3 bar at 2k revs before the turbo blew and i changed the oil.

ive got some castrol rs 0W 40W what i picked up from halfords cheap a couple of weeks ago, not sure about putting that in.

If im using thicker oil i take it, its harder to get the oil about the engine?

also i think im due for a tappet change as a couple are noisey, could this be a problem?

cheers

Hmmmmmmm, don't sound all that really mate.

I just checked, and I get 4.8bar @ idle from cold, 2bar when hot (90+) and 4.8bar at full throttle, and that is on piss thin mineral oil.

I'm no oil expert, but I wouldn't have thought that a slight change in oil would have effected it like that.

I have heard of, an expirenced severly bad wear on Kent cams, like, knackered within 100's of miles, I would recommend a Piper cam if you were too change.

Not sure if it would contribute to low oil pressure though, sorry. See what Mr C thinks, he isn't doing much tomorrow, only working on my invoice, and the less time he spends on that beast the better

Sorry I can't help anymore mate
