Ok my cylinderhead is currently taken off my engine because i have to renew the head gasket.. Now i am sitting with my cylinderhead and are about to remove my camshaft..
I have removed the camfollowers and here is my question:
This is my normal camfollower..

But is this supposed to happen???

The camfollower is in three parts.. but some of them can not be separated like that... Can someone please explain to me if this is normal or if some of my camfollowers is damaged?? i dont know much about this part of engine
Anyway.. if i want to renew my camfollowers... will i have to buy a new camshaft too?? or can i renew only the camfollowers??

never seen any of mine do that mate, that ring is properly a retainer or something when they are made
when fitting a new camshaft, always replace the followers, along with new oil
but the other way round isnt as bad, but a worn cam can soon knock out the new followers
if u can afford it, buy a camkit, you get everything in the kit, and do everything all together, stems, springs, followers etc, rs turbos/cvh's cams tend to wear after 60k and are normally replaceded then

yeah... but the problem is that i cant afford a camkit right now.. but i could probably just use these followers again and then replace the whole mess when i can afford it..

You can get a brand new standard cam kit made by AE for £104.00
I've got some spare followers you can have for next to nothing if you need them. They would probably do you while you save up to get a kit.
Cheers

The place where I got the kit from is called Godfrey Autoparts in Leeds. Their number is 0113 2469009. AE is the make of the cam who are based in Bradford they are well know throughout the country. They also make good quality pistons etc.
