Mine do on a hard run, stinks of something, i know my clutch cant take the power of my car,could it be that?, but im putting a new mk6 IB5 box in and ap clutch clutch in on monday so that should be sorted.

 

Give us a clue mate lol. You would know if your clutch was slipping because the revs would shoot up and there would be a cabbage type smell, same goes for brakes.

You sure the smell isn't shit from your pants when you put your foot down, I used to get that smell coming from my passengers, and that was just in my Mum's Mondeo

 

Burning smell when im driving, yet when i stick my head under the bonnet with car stationary and engine still running, the burning smell goes away so i cant identify where the hell its from

 

Ok, I tell you. It's the turbo getting hot and that's what you can smell, every turbo car I have been in does it after a good thrashing

Like a sweet cherry kind of smell. That's how you know you have driven properly

all rst's smell of warm turbo, part of the ownership of ownin the car, whats worse is when u go out. get out the car and walk to the shop, and people say cor u smell like ur car, NICE!

yeah thought it must of been a turbo car thing as a cossie ive been in does the same thing, think im gonna install some magic trees in my engine bay as my next mod.

 

Mine does the same aftre a good hard drive, not an oily smell just an warm engine type smell

mine stinks off oil and lots and lots of it as bloody sump gasket fcuked tried doing it twice now so sod it off to garage to be done

 

Mine can smell after a good runting (to the legal speed limits of course ). That's when you know you've given it a proper spank

i have an IB5 box and its the mutts

 

yeah i was recommened to use one from a well known tuner, my mate also use the box in his rs turbo (in septembers performance ford,imperial blue one) which is 210bhp 241 lbs of torque and its been fine and he does alot of track days etc, cheaper than paying for an uprated cvh box!

 

does anyone know the top speed a IB5 box can handle?

 

alot more than your cars engine can go, im having a diesel 5th gear put in though, incase of any future mods, but i would use the rst final drive if not

 

well hope so will be going in wednesday morning but wont be set up though just hope its done and makes it there in 1 piece if not will be getting a lift with simon in the mk3

mine smells too, so does my mates FRST....


i was worried at first, then i smelt his so i thort it was the turbo

 

Thought it was my radiator, just found out it is oil from the sump leaking onto the exhaust... not good as i want to go to ford fair on sunday!!
its only a few drips though, maybe it will be ok?

 

Or throw it away if steam is coming from it, cos there is a hole in it.
