Just trying to settle an argument, karens mum's boyfriend has bought a car an di reackon its a not worth what he wants for it

its an R reg Escort 1.6 ghia saloon 60k but only a bit of history, dents and dings with one side mirror falling off, not the best condition. He bougt the car for £800 and thinks its a classic car (seriously) its an easy sale at £2k.(bit of a know it all type) i think its worth no more than £500 - 800 due to condition etc and even top notch A1 it wouldnt fetch more than say £1200 -£1300

400-600 TOPS... maybe 800 if its got all working toys inc aircon alloys etc?

 

 

BTW I aint a trader, obv forecourt prices may be slightly higher..

 

by the sounds of it the only thing that car has going for it is its mileage!! but yeah he certainly a dreamer expecting 2k for it

 

the millage cant even be verified tho, so it may be 160 for all i know

 

he just reduced the price, £1500 for a quick sale, had someone ask about the car and they both prompto disapeared when after asking the price

 

Saloons don't sell well at all so you can knock £500 of it to start with. Plus it needs paint, mirror sorting and doesn't have warranted mileage.

If I was doing it as a p/x clearance I wouldn't want to give more than £600 for it. If it was straight, it would probably go out at £1000+ a bit depending on condition etc.

On the plus side though, it is a Ghia so reasonable spec.

my mate paid 2k for an r reg gti with leather and aircon and 80 ish k and a LPG conversion.

i think your right - 5-800 quid. and only near 800 if its sorted out.

 

For perspective - I bought an L reg Escort 1.6 LX saloon, with a verified 68k and half a dozen owners for £300
