I was looking underneath my car last night checking for the dreaded rust and I noticed that my bushes on the front rollbar are fcucked. This would be an MOT fail I believe so,

Where can I get some from? I have no idea. Are they available from Ford or will I have to get some polybushes, if so where from as I've never seen a 16i kit?

depends on how bad they are ??? - yes,they will fail.

is'nt the 16i kit - the same as a S1 kit ???

they may be still availble from ford - if not a "copy part" - or Polybushes

There are two types apparently, there was a change in '83 and there is a difference according to Ford. I need to give them my chassis number to confirm which mine is but apparently only 1 of the two types is available from Ford.

I hope its mine....

No. Its an 83 but dont know if it's before changes or after... Can confirm with chassis number.

mines a "dy" code - on the chassis number - thats a june 83

Do you know how to date from chassis numbers then?

 

yes - got a list

look along the chassis number

it will read:-

WFOBXXGCAB

THEN THE FOLLOWING

CR = OCT 83
CA = NOV 82
CG = DEC 82
DC = JAN 83
DK = FED 83
DD = MAR 83
DE = APR 83
DL = MAY 83
DY = JUN 83
DS = JULY 83

Got some bushes from ford on Saturday!!!!! My car is the later type ' June 83 ' and they hold them in stock. I bought a couple of sets as they were only £3.31.
