Can you do the same, simular or even better policies than HIC?

HIC.. I wonder where they got the idea for "like for like cover" from

On the agreed value front guys, we dont currently do this. We used to and got majorly ripped off by an owners club that we dealt with some 6 years ago - people had 10k agreed values from "the club" and tried to sell their car for 6 months at half the price of the agreed value with us.

When it didn't sell the car was found in a field torched... funny that .

You guys do have a valid point though and I can understand that you wish to know where you stand up front, so I will raise this with our Insurers.

The underwriter that I need to speak to is away this week, but i'll raise this with him and devise a "value assessment" process.

Currently, we look at the A1 retail price of the base car, add on the full value of any mods that are not on the vehicle (ie. strutt brace/body kit), then finally as some parts on the vehicle help to make up the "A1" base value (ie. standard wheels/brakes) we add the difference between the cost of the base wheels at say £400 and your new set of 18's at £1200 (ie. +£800 base value).

This has never presented a problem, claims have been paid on this basis and fair values are applied for vehicles. There are members on here that have experienced this, but data protection doesnt let me be specific without their permission .

If parts are damaged or stolen from your vehicle and your vehicle is repairable, our underwriter will apply the "like for like" replacement clause that we pioneered to your policy and replace the parts where available (or provide the nearest/latest equivalent).

I'll post to update you next week.

Kindest regards

Tony
