Default Suspension: help me decide..

If you guys were going to choose a suspension kit for your ERST from this list.. what would your choice be??

GMAX -40mm

Spax -25mm

P.I. -25mm

P.I. -50mm

Apex -30mm

50mm sounds like too much.. i dont want too many trouble riding around town with speedbumps and all that.. is there a big visual difference between 25mm and 40mm?? it has to look good you know

Anyway... I guess i have to compromise between comfort and look...

Opinions please??

Theres only 2 names worth considering really - H&R and Eibach.

Of course you could go for coilovers from LEDA, Bilstein, GAZ etc - but for springs stick with those 2.

I never had a problem with Monroe Sensatrac gas shocks, they are not expensive either. Last a long time and are good quality. They spend money on development not on hyping up their products, unlike most of the firms mentioned.

so.. would it be a good idea to buy ex. those monroe sensatrac you're talkin about.. and then find a set of springs to go with that??

i thought the best solution would be a complete kit so i can be sure that both springs and dampers will work together.. am i wrong on this one?

Hey i just read on a danish car forum that its no good to use monroe sensatrac dampers on lowered cars because the dampers are made to fit with standard springs... anybody know about that??

Monroe dampers are deigned to become progressively stiffer as they compress, making them quite sporty on a lowered car. I've used them with 25mm springs without problem. If you go stupidly low, you may get problems with not enough travel, as well as sprigs being loose once the car is jacked up, which can give problems with TÜV or MOT.

So they are half way correct - for huge drops you need special dampers, but for 25mm or so they are fine. Huge drops are obviously no good for handling, so it doesnt really matter what dampers you use, so long as they have enough travel and pass the safety test.

Thats about the same explanation i got from that company over here...

Anyway.. i gotta tell yall... i have decided to forget all about new suspension right now.. and here's the reason..

My headgasket has blown and i wanted to fix it... and now as im separating my engine for the first time im finding out that practically my whole engine is rotten as hell so now i want to use as much money on fixing up the engine as i can... and since the car is'nt gonna be on the road for the time being i dont need new suspension as much as a well working engine

but thanx for the help with suspension anyway
