AP 4 pots 330mm bells are rotors

Or, before that I had 2wd Cosworth discs and re- conditions S2 calipers on the front, with 2wd Cosworth discs on the rear, and a mate said that my brakes were as good as his AP 4 pots on his Saph. They were very good brakes for not a lot of money. Just make sure you have taken off the ABS, that will make your brakes a whole load better.

O.K then Dave Green said they went straight on
as he fitted them
st170 front set up, grooved and green stuff pads, rear discs and calipers off sierra xr4i ... had quite a lot of probs bleeding the system, ie bad pedal. make sure all of your brakes other system is in good condition ie servo master cylinder hoses etc.
i also have stainless steel goodridge hoses.
after 500 miles of bedding them in and then a track day they are awsome, however the rear end is a bit twitchy under sh!t your pant braking situations lol but controled brakeing is very good.
cost £210 for brand new st170 calipers from this bb, £144 for grooved discs and green stuff pads.
i had brand new rear pads fitted as well as that gave a much better pedal feel as it was a bit low.
ive also fitted a brand new master cylinder and servo as mine was leaking a bit

Don't 4x4 Cos calipers fit under standard rims, coupled with Cos discs ?

I have 295mm fronts under standard 15" rims with lightweight alloy 4 pot calipers. All those Brembo/Cossie conversions etc weighed faaaaarrr too much for me
Rears are standard non vented sierra discs and calipers
All fits under standard rims with no mods, and I get bruised shoulders from the seat belts after competition

cheers micky, have u got much play in them?
ive done a track day and had to go through scrutineering at a local 1/4 mile sprint and they said my rear bearings were suspect i even thought there was a bit of movement but i noticed this after i poly bushed the whole of the rear end.... just wondered what yours are like mate

rswoza - bearings are completely standard Motorcraft items mate. I built them up into standard hubs about 8 years ago, ran them on my mk4 ralycar for about 50 events then transfered them into the Mk3 when I built it. They just get re greased twice a year thats all mate. Never caused a problem.
rswoza, long story this,so bear with me
,when i 1st fitted the rear bearings i followed the Haynes manual to the letter, used a torque wrench etc so i know i did it all correct.Well on 1st track day after 2 sessions I noticed play in the rear wheel,so I tightened up the bearing bit by bit till the play came out of them. All was good for 700 track miles until i got total bearing failure on the back drivers side hub.I posted about this on here a few weeks ago.Stripped down the hub to find the bearings on the outer side had all melted into each other and the inner race they ran on weled itself onto the stub axle!!!I couldnt remove it and had to get a 2nd hand one from a scrappie!!So now Im in the process of refitting everything and hope thats the last time i get this problem.
I really dont know why it happened as the passenger side is still ok (but i replaced the bearings just in case after the failure on the drivers side!) as i did both sides the same day and in the same way .If i was you id keep an eye on youre rear bearings just in case, but if Tony says they last for ever he is probally right as his rally car must get 10 times more stress into the wheel bearings than my car ever would!!
Tony, thanks for the price etc,if youre at National Day I'll pop over to see youre set up and ask a few questions if you dont mind.
Regards Micky
